Water
We have been finding out about water and why it is important for life.
We planted some daffodil bulbs in the winter. We looked after them and watered them. See how they have grown.
Floating and Sinking experiments.
We tested some materials to see if they would float or sink. We had a few surprises! Some of the objects we thought would sink actually floated. These were a big wooden log, a sponge that half floated and half sunk and a heavy ball.
We also found that some materials can float and sink depending on how they are shaped.
This Blu-Tac boat we made floated but when we rolled it into a ball, it sank!
As part of Water Week we went to Backwell Lake.
We walked round the lake to see what animals and wildlife lived there. We saw lots of swans and ducks. We even found a nest with some eggs in!
We also did some pond dipping and thought about if the water was safe for us to drink. We took some samples and made collections of things we found.
