Science Fair

Kosmonautů Comenius Project Science Fair

We have had a wonderful two years working with our Comenius partner/friends, sharing Science Experiments.

Tuesday 2nd June 2015
We were loking forward to this special day, day of school assembly, there we were celebrating our work we had.

loose pulley - physics - year sixth

the presence of air in the soil - science - year firs
magnetic force - science - year firs

"all are in rush"
"all are helping"
"all are preparing"
"all are a bit nervous"

fermentation - ecology - year sixth

...let´s go call by our specially hand made telephone to older classmates ...

"Hi there, is going to start our assambly yet?"

"Hola, casi hecho, a sólo unos minutos y ajustes. Así que tenga paciencia, calmarse y más tarde todo disfrutar de él :)"

mix - solubility - ecology - year seventh

Each classes prepared own experiment to present and let parents, friends and classmates to get involved on.

We invited parents, school friends to our school where we all our experiments and investigations hosted.

We have done lot of these two school years, it was very difficult for kids decided which experiments they would like to show.

“Cook, mug, cook!”

...this is typical Czech fairytale classics ...

REFORESTATION

 REFORESTATION

Becouse of bureaucracy in the Czech Republic, it was difficult to carry out reforestate in the true sense of the word.
Because one of the partner country is in a different climate zone than our republic, we decided to "reforest" our school by subtropical plants - "Spanish plants".

Let me introduce a little bit this partner shool. Some of our Comenius friends - teachers visited green houses and small botanic garden.

The school is focused on traditional training in horticultural and agricultural production and services. Teaching at the oldest agricultural college in our country was started November 12, 1850.

In the main building there is a school with tribal and specialized classrooms, youth hostels, modern dining room with kitchen, gym, library, cabinets teachers and the Secretariat. The school is part of a closed complex, which also includes workshops, horticultural-agricultural education center, horse stables and a riding club that students can attend, a large park.
This area bordered by botanical gardens and greenhouses consisting park, school store, and ornamental fruit orchards.
Part of the university is a driving school and leisure activities station named Daisy, which focuses on work with children of primary school and extracurricular activities.

Partner school Libverda welcomed our students and helped them to plant cuttings and seeds of subtropical plants.

Pupils listened and fulfilled the instructions they received, step by step :)

Some needed a helping hand, others did it ourselves.

Thaks to our partner school for their help and patient approach, always pleasure to cooperate there.

These plants already beautifully decorate each classes in our school. We like it :)

BACTERIA AND FERMENTATION

BACTERIA AND FERMENTATION

Experiments which they have performed by the students of year sixth were focused on simple experiments with yeast.
The aim of these experiments was to establish a culture of butyric acid bacteria.

Explain the principle of each experiment, which make sure that yeast contains living organisms.

They understand the importance of butyric acid bacteria and they were able to carry out various experiments independently.

Feedback, whether students understood the experiments that were fun and learned them at the same time, were the worksheets. They've created yourself each group to the other.  Filling and checking was quick and easy and none of them had any bigger problems.

 WELL DONE :)

MIXTURE

MIXTURE

What causes a fog? And what is the smoke? Where do the bubbles of soapy water come from?
These and other questions are answered by the students year seventh during the ecology lessons.
Experiments were made so simple way, the lead pupils to logical answers.
Fog is withheld water vapor in nature, which hovers above the ground surface. We may create a mist quickly and easily by simple experiment. We pour water into the sprayer and spray it into the air. Disperse spray water droplets in the air, produces a mixture which we call aerosol - fog.

Sugar dissolved in water is a homogeneous blend, which we call the solution - tea prepared for breakfast it is a solution.

Smoke is visible after blowing out the candles, which are small solid particles dispersed in air. We know for example smoke dust, smoke rising from smokestacks, smoke from cigarettes.
For experiment we light a candle, let it burn for a while and then blew out the flame - simple and self-evident.

Water and jar forms a solution, blowing through a straw there is a diverse mix - foam (liquid substance is diffuse gaseous substance - air) and thereby ours bubbles.

What we set out to do, that pupils distinguish individual mix, mix base liquid and solid-liquid, or gaseous. New knowledge from the experiments can link to a normal life and have fun, we have fulfilled.

LIVE BUTTERFLY GARDEN

LIVE BUTTERFLY GARDEN

We would like to watch the miracle of metamorphosis in our own classroom and this offers children the invaluable lessons of metamorphosis, science, patterns, patience and life cycle.

Children put five caterpillars to a clean plastic cup together with nutrious food they need.
They placed them to safe but visible place away from direct sunlight.
Later on the caterpillars grow ten times their original size.

After seven o ten days will the caterpillars will hang upside down and harden into chrysalides/pupael.

Then they chrysalides gently moved to the pop-up butterfly habitat. And the butterfly house was for kids especially for the small one like a film in cinema

They were lovely coloured and there was not the only child that butterflies seen, admired.

We waited together, the whole school, warm day, we could jointly launch butterflies. These common activity attuned to them to other friendly projects.

Younger children were sad that  butterfliers were leaving us.
