Parson Street Primary YEAR 4 SCIENCE - What happens inside us?

The children learnt about where to find their pulse on their bodies' and how to measure their pulse whilst resting and after exercising. They ran around the playground to increase their heart rate. After, we recorded our results using a table and explored whether our experiment was a FAIR test? Was it - what do you think? Take a look to see what Year 4 thought.

Next, we learnt about the names of the different parts of our internal organs and skeleton. We drew around our bodies and reasoned where each organ went, some of us were unsure at first but we solved the mystery in the end.

Later, we focused learning about our teeth and the roles that each type of tooth takes on.
Once we knew the different jobs, we wrote informative, non-chronological reports about TEETH. Take a look at our plans...

In the end, we investigated the effect of water, diet cola, orange juice and cola has on teeth. We dropped egg shells into cups filled with different liquids and observed the changes after a day and then a whole week. Read what we discovered below...

We realised that it is important to look after your teeth daily because sugar can have a long term, negative effect on your teeth.
Hope you enjoyed our learning!
