In Year 4 we have explored different aspects of buoyancy including:
– Shape
– Weight
– Displacement
– Ballast
– Pressure
– Stability
– Self righting boats
The RNLI are a charity which helps people when they need help on our coastlines. We had a member of the RNLI visit us to demonstrate that some things float and some things sink by dropping various articles and material of different shapes and weight into the water tank.
He showed us life jackets from 1900 - 2015. Here are some pictures
We then designed our own life jackets using our new knowledge about buoyancy. Thinking about the right material and shape of the jacket was vital!

This was the very first type of life jacket

I enjoyed it. I was intrigued by your project I like. I learned a few new things. It was great fun and new attempts. Like laboratory projects and your projects. Your project is very good, I learned a lot. I liked it.
