At Parson Street we have been taking part in 'Switch off Fortnight'. Year 6 pupils from the Green Committee have been in charge of running the campaign.
So what's it all about?!
The Green Committee are investigating if people turn off their lights when they're not in their room. Teachers get a green card if they have switched off their white board, lights and computer monitor. When they leave something switched on they get a red card. (Cammy, Class 13)
We are giving out stickers to teachers and children if we see them switching off lights. (Cassie, Class 14)
We are doing it to see who can save the most electricity and save all the fossil fuels from being used up - like coal. (Cammy, Class 13)
We're trying to get everyone to switch off their lights to save the Arctic and the ice caps from melting so that the polar bears don't die out. (Lewis, Class 13)
So is it working?
Now that we have been doing the 'Switch off' for a week people are starting to remember to turn off. (Cammy, Class 13)
